Mareks Birznieks: When creating the interior design of a flat, I feel an intangible connection with its future dweller.

Mareks Birznieks, Interior designer

I am an interior designer, holding an MA degree and an endless desire to improve the world. Sometimes I am an artist devoting my work to a subtle, intangible world of imagination. At the same time, I am also an incredibly practical person, sometimes even too rational, respecting the building architecture, function and the desires and needs of my imaginary images.

When creating the interior design of apartment, I feel an intangible connection with its future dweller. We must have a similar sense of life and values, in a way, we must become friends.

Even though a functional design has general guidelines, it is mostly based on the personal experience of each individual. It is subordinated to the person’s needs and matches the context of his/her personality. In my 26VESETAS apartment, the shape complies with the function, based on my imaginary owner and my experience.
